New contest!

April! The month of my birthday and the first month THE SHADOW WOLF, my August 23 Nocturne, is available for pre-order on Amazon. Click here.

DARKNESS OF THE WOLF
, my Nocturne Bite, will be an added feature to this print book. In other book news, I've been informed that BITTEN BY THE VAMPIRE, the first short story in my trilogy of sexy Nocturne Cravings, will be released in October.

It's due to be followed in November by MATED TO THE WOLF and in December by HUNTED BY THE JAGUAR. All three Cravings are about three triplet sisters who are half-demon, half-angel. Ancient warriors, a vampire, a werewolf and a jaguar, are assigned to mate with them to tame their dark halves... or they will be forced to destroy them.

To celebrate, I'm holding a contest and giving away a copy of my last Nocturne, IMMORTAL WOLF. Gabriel, the hero of THE SHADOW WOLF, makes an appearance in this book.

To enter, leave a comment on this blog post or
pop on over to my Facebook fan page to say hello. Or if you wish, you can email me at bonnievanak@aol.com

The contest will end on my birthday, April 23.

Immortal Wolf is a Maggie finalist!

My Nocturne, IMMORTAL WOLF, is a finalist in the paranormal category of the prestigious Maggie awards!

I'm thrilled at the news. This book was special to me, because I wanted to write Raphael's character after he appeared in ENEMY LOVER.

Ok, off to finish packing for my Honduras trip tomorrow. We're meeting with the president of a small, very resourceful and dynamic NGO about starting a new women's program to give indigent women a chance to become self-sufficient. This idea has been a dream of mine for two years, and I'm so happy it's finally coming full circle.

I'll try to post from the field if I have internet. Have a great week!

Leaving

I'm leaving for Haiti, and will be offline all week. If you email me, please be patient. I'll get back to you when I get back to the States.

In the meantime, if you liked Raphael's story in IMMORTAL WOLF, be sure to check out the FREE online serial on eHarlequin I wrote called SEDUCING THE VAMPIRE.

It starts tomorrow on eHarlequin and will be in their online reads library.

Every Monday for eight weeks, there will be a new chapter, starting Oct. 19. This story features Indigo, the half-vampire, half-werewolf, who is Raphael's adopted brother. Indigo meets up with a beautiful vampire from his past. Together they must team up to save an ancient amulet from getting into the wrong hands. Raphael makes a guest appearance in SEDUCING THE VAMPIRE.

Hump Day Hunk and excerpt

Busy week, have to have a medical procedure tomorrow so for today I'm posting a pix for Hump Day Hunk of how I envisioned Raphael from IMMORTAL WOLF. This is my Nocturne that is out Oct. 1.

And here is an excerpt to go along with it! Enjoy.

Also, something cool, TIME magazine did an article on romance, and in the photo of Harlequin titles is my book, ENEMY LOVER. Woot!

Immortal Wolf, copyright 2009 by Bonnie Vanak

He advanced, his body tensing with aggressive need to dominate and claim. Raphael forced himself to move slowly. Must not scare her. All else was forgotten, but this driving sexual need for her. Emily did not retreat.

She remained motionless, her hands in their ugly mustard yellow casing of gloves now shoved behind her back. He drew close enough to see a slight sprinkling of ginger freckles on her delicate, upturned nose. Close enough to count the light gold lashes feathering her large eyes, see the swirls of green in the irises shift to blue, and then deep violet.

Raphael blinked. Her eyes changed color?

And then she parted her lips and lifted her face to him, like a daisy eager for the sun’s caressing rays, and he forgot about everything but fusing his mouth to hers.
His hand gently caressed her soft cheek. Raphael cupped her face and kissed her, feeling the electric shock between them as their lips touched.

Emily sighed into his mouth and closed her eyes. He did as well, tasting her, his blood roaring through his veins, his body humming like a live current. She was of the earth and nature, pure as a crystal stream, and he ached to dive into her, plunder her sweet, innocent depths with his hardened body, let her know a male’s driving passion while awakening her own.

Cover for IMMORTAL WOLF

This is the cover for Immortal Wolf, my October Nocturne. It's a perfect portrait of Raphael and Emily. Raphael is an immortal Draicon werewolf who is the Kallan, the only Draicon allowed to execute another without consequence. Emily is a Draicon who kills everyone she touches, or so she thinks.

What do you think of the cover?

Dogs rule and release schedule

Cookie, our new addition, is on the left. Dolce is on the right. He's got a new pal. Typical guy, he ignores her, but likes having her around, lol.

Already I can tell she's calmed him down. He longer barricades the door and barks like mad when I leave. He's like, "Uh, ok, buh bye, cyah!"

And because I miss her still, and will always miss her, here's a photo from 2006 of my beloved Tia. (sniff) She was my "writing buddy."

Life is hectic, very busy with personal stuff, and trying to figure out my writing schedule before I leave for a Nicaragua trip in one week. Gulp.

Here's what my releases for the rest of the year are:

August: DARKNESS OF THE WOLF, a Nocturne Bite (ebook)

October: IMMORTAL WOLF, Nocturne. This is Raphael's story from ENEMY LOVER.

October: PURSUIT OF THE WOLF: Free online serial from Harlequin, this features Indigo, Raphael's adopted brother (may change, but that's what I'm writing for now)

December: UNWRAPPED in HOLIDAY WITH A VAMPIRE, Nocturne, anthology. This pairs Adrian, a banished vampire, with Sarah, a shunned Draicon. Also features green gremlins singing Christmas carols in little Santa suits. :-)

Til later!

New blog, post on Harlequin's paranormal blog

Some news to report.

First, I blogged over at Harlequin's paranormal blog about Enemy Lover, and how I came up with the idea for flying werewolves. Check it out here.

And speaking of werewolves, I have great news - a release date for Raphael's book! That Nocturne is called IMMORTAL WOLF and will be out next fall.

Now switching to Egypt and historicals: THE LADY AND THE LIBERTINE is my next Egyptian historical. The hero is an earl who is a rogue, and a libertine and a thief. The heroine is a woman who was raised in an English workhouse, and then sent to live in Egypt with the Khamsin. The ruby necklace she wears is the key to a fabulous treasure, and the earl desires to steal it, and her virginity as well. But will she steal away his heart?

I'm blogging about Egypt next week for the new blog some fellow authors and I have launched. The Chatelaines features Emily Bryan, Cindy Holby, Jennifer Ashley, CL Wilson (Cheryl), Gerri Russell, Joy Nash and me!

Click here and let us know what you think of the banner. I think it's very clever and funny. I'm walking like an Egyptian!
