New dragon book!

The Mating Destiny is now available for purchase! Werewolves of Montana Book 7 is only $2.99 on Amazon Kindle, Kobo, iBooks, Nook and Google!

In all his 150 years as dragon, sexy, handsome Crown Prince Alexander d’Mateo de Drakon Tremaine has been treated with privilege and respect. And then he met a half-blood who turned his world upside down and made him see life in a new light. Alex would do anything for Emma, even fight to the last drop of his royal blood to keep her safe. But they can never be more than friends, for Alex is destined to marry and mate with a princess from a rival clan to unite their two kingdoms.
Half-blood dragon Emma Kantris is servant to Alex’s intended, and she knows his marriage will mean much-needed change for both dragon clans. Through his union with Princess Sabrina, Alex can finally eradicate the hated caste system that suppresses Emma and other half-bloods. Secretly, her heart longs for Alex, the dashing prince who has been a friend when all others deserted her, even though Emma has been warned to stay away. But when Emma is abducted by her enemies, it’s Alex who’s off to rescue her, and in doing so he may pay a price that could endanger them both…
EXCERPT FROM THE MATING DESTINY

She was dragon, and had fought every step of the way for what little she had. No parents to assist her, few friends within her own clan.
Only Sabrina, bless her, who understood her thirst for knowledge and desire to improve her status through reading.
But the damnable caste system in Clan Ciamoth could not be changed.
Still, Alex was here, with her now. In a brothel, and he had purchased her body. Taking a break from the bracelet, for her wrist was chafed and hurt, she stared at Alex. Emma licked her lips, studying his very nice buttocks as he knelt on the seat cushion to wrap his hand and test the bars again.
Khaki material stretched over the twin globes, cupping them tight. She wondered what it would feel like to cup his ass, to squeeze and knead that smooth skin as he lay atop her, and joined his muscled body to hers…
Alex, nude in bed with her. Arousal filled her, the wicked thoughts that haunted her long, lonely nights. He was strictly off limits, especially now after the warning from her attackers, but a girl could still dream.
"Is it true what they say about male dragons?" Em tried to avoid looking at Alex's rather large, elegant hands and his long fingers.
He turned from the iron bars. "What?"
"That if a dragon's middle claw, er, finger, is longer than his ring finger, it means he is, ah, endowed. At least an inch longer."
Alex stared.
"You know." Em pointed to her crotch.
He burst into laughter. "Em, that's a myth."
"Oh." Heat suffused her chest and neck. She felt silly for bringing it up, but one of the girls in the basement had said it was true.
Alex held up his right hand. The middle finger was considerably longer than his ring finger. "It's two inches, not one."
"Oh. Ohhhh." Now the blush spread like wildfire across her face.
A wicked grin touched his full, handsome face. "Would you like to see the evidence?"
"Um, that's okay." She rose off the bed and went to the table that held fruit and a pitcher of ice water to pour herself a glass. She drank deeply and set the glass down. It was getting hot in here. Too hot.
He took his polo shirt and studied the black marks magick had left behind on the knit fabric. Powerful magick indeed. The darkest kind. He put the shirt back on.
"I'd offer to launder that for you, but I'm afraid I don't know where the washing machines are."
"Em." Alex twisted the gold signet ring on his left pinkie. He always did that when thinking. Maybe the ring was hard-wired to his gray matter. "This is serious."
"Don't I know it? I'm trapped here in a brothel, you bought me for the night and I don't even know if they have my favorite pasta here or cable. I'm kinda out of luck. Plus I lost my phone. I hate it when I lose my phone. How am I supposed to tweet now? I was so looking forward to posting on Instagram and Facebook that I'd been dragon-napped and I was at a brothel, forced to wear a harem outfit and learn to like grapes and cheap wine."
Crossing the room, he enfolded her into his arms. "You're shaking."
Like a leaf in the wind, but no need to tell him that. Even if she could disguise her fear with jokes, he could detect her scent. Dragons were excellent at sniffing out fear.
It made prey all the easier to track down, and kill.
She lifted her head and saw him staring down at her. "I'm not going to hurt you, Em," he said quietly.
"Or eat me?"
The question was a hoarse whisper, though she'd intended it to be light and teasing. Alex's mouth quirked in a slight smile.
"Not for dinner."
But she caught his racing pulse, his dilated eyes and heard the heavy beat of his heart. "Maybe for… dessert. With whipped cream and a cherry on top."
"No need for a cherry. You did buy a virgin, you know."
His beautiful blue-green eyes widened to dinner plates. "Em…"
She cut in, not wanting to pursue that particular thread. "Alex, remember last year when you and I snuck into the Trolling & Strolling strip club because you left your wallet there after that bachelor party, and you saw the python in the stripper's dressing room and you realized how hungry you were… because the strip club offered only cheese and crackers and hard liquor…and you ate him?"
"Em…"
"And I had to grab your wallet and the manager saw us and shifted into a grizzly bear and threatened to bite your balls off? Remember how scared I was?"
"Em…"
"This is worse." She swallowed hard. "Much worse. I'm trying hard to pretend this is all a nightmare or a dream, because you are here and it's a dream to be with you, but I'm so scared I feel like my heart's jumping out of my chest."
He smoothed back a tendril of hair from her cheek. "Em, I'm here. I will not let anything happen to you."

New dragon story, coming soon.

Temptation, Mating Mini #5, will be out soon. I will have it available soon for pre-order and will post the links when they are live. If you've read Redemption, Mating Mini #4, this is Sebastian the dragon's story.

Got fire? Sebastian Kane does, and he's raring to use it on a pretty dragon shifter he must train. Problem is, Skylar Moore doesn't realize she's a dragon. She thinks she's human. Although she thinks Sebastian is a smokin' hot hunk who ignites her libido, the idea of her being a fanged, fire-breathing dragon is a little too much to take, even with a shot or ten of Tequila from the bar where she works.

Not only is Skylar a dragon, she's a rare Jewel, whose scales will be real diamonds. Skylar is the missing princess of a dragon clan and it's Sebastian's job to return her safely back to her people. There's a pack of greedy hyenas howling to kill her so they can get rich from selling her scales. Sebastian has his hands full training this pretty, curvy dragon, and keeping her safe from those who would harm her, while fighting the temptation to call her his own.

Happy BDSM Day

Happy Valentine's Day! Fifty Shades of Grey releases today and I'm not going to see it.  I'm staying home with the dogs and working on Redemption, a new Werewolves of Montana Mating Mini, while DH works on the trains at the local park. Yeah, our lives are soooo fifty shades of exciting, LOL.

And tonight to celebrate VD day (that sounds terrible, VD day. Veneral Disease day?) we are grilling steaks instead of paying too much for eating dinner out. A bottle of white wine is chilling in the fridge and we are going to have a fire in the fire pit. And relax, toast each other and our marriage (20 years this year!). No whips, bondage or floggers for us. But he DID purchase a VD gift for tonight... drum roll...

A toasting fork. For marshmallows! It's pictured above. Yeah, I love that man of mine. He knows what I need. LOL! Happy Valentine's Day!!!

He has vowed to seek revenge against the man who killed his intended mate and scattered his pack. Can he experience a night of pleasure with the lovely redhead and pursue his goal of revenge, or will Jessica capture his broken heart?

Excerpt from Obsession copyright 2015 by Bonnie Vanak

He parked a lean hip against the tree’s trunk and folded his muscular arms. In his red flannel shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to display tanned forearms, and faded jeans with scuffed Western boots, he looked like an ordinary cowboy. But there was nothing ordinary about this Lupine.
Curls the color of blackest night spilled down to his collar. His strong jaw was covered by a close-trimmed beard, and a crisp mustache framed a mouth far too sensual for a man. But there was nothing sensual about the sharp, angular features of his face nor the darkness of those brown eyes.
Those eyes seemed ageless, and ancient pain lurked in their depths as he gazed down at her.
Jessica studied the acres of green pasture, the gleaming buildings, and thought about the expensive motor cars parked in the garage. “It must be nice to be wealthy,” she mused.
“There are worse things than having no money,” he said quietly.
“Easy to say when you have plenty of it.”
“I’d trade all the money in the world to regain what I’ve lost.”
He looked dark and dangerous and yet he had an air of vulnerability.
            “What did you lose?”
Raphael shook his head. “Another time, little one. Perhaps one night I will share that information.”
“You don’t believe in sharing during the day?”
His gaze became hooded. “With you, I would much rather share…things… at night.”
Jessica felt her entire body flare with heat. Every time he gazed at her with those bedroom eyes, she felt a jolt of sensual awareness.
Her Lupine nature, with all its raging hormones and sexual need, howled for release.
But his seductive gaze wasn’t centered on her face now. He stared at her curls.
“What’s wrong? Never seen a redhead before?”
“Not of that color. I have met some red wolf Lupines, but their coloring is darker.” Raphael left the tree, approached her. Before she could squeak a protest, he wrapped a strand of her hair around his index finger.
“It is like living flame that does not burn. But do you burn, Jessica? Burn with the desire all our kind possesses?”

Dry-mouthed, she struggled for a comeback. Think, think! No way could she allow this silver-tongued devil wolf best her.
“Right now I burn with a tremendous desire.” Jessica tugged her hair away from his loose grasp. “A desire for you to stop touching me.”

He arched a brow. “That is not touching you, little one. When I touch you, you will know it, and be unable to resist.”

RWA San Antonio

I'm leaving Tuesday for San Antonio and RWA and as usual, there's a million errands to run and stuff to do. Yesterday I went to the hairdresser and said those three little words many women sometimes regret: "Cut it off."

Oh yeah, I got a hair cut.  It hasn't been this short in years. Then I looked at my lost locks on the floor and told her, "Glue it back on."

DH likes it. It's not a short short short cut, but short enough to make a difference. I needed a change.

Today is a rush rush day, but I'm making time to have lunch at a Greek restaurant with a good friend, cuddle with the dogs on the sofa, scribbling notes about the WIP and organizing my clothing so I can pack 50 outfits into a suitcase that will allow only 50 pounds. I was looking forward to bringing my pink Coach purse with me to RWA, but the strap broke. I saw the guy who fixes my computers and suddenly, WHAP! The strap on my purse breaks. I told him, "Is this a sign that I will be owing you more money?"

Bummer about the purse because I bought it for myself to celebrate making the NY Times earlier this year, a major dream come true! I've always wanted a Coach bag, but could not justify spending that kind of money. And then we were in Key West for my birthday and there was a SALE! Fifty percent off at the Coach shop! So I bought my purse.

DH took it to the local Coach shop and they are repairing it for free. Then DH felt bad for me because I wouldn't have the purse at RWA, so what did he do? My amazing hubby bought me ANOTHER Coach purse as a surprise gift! He told me he wanted me to have that symbol of my success at RWA.

What a sweetheart!

Oh yeah, the Coach purse is a symbol of success for me, a personal triumph. But what matters more is that I have been a published author for more than 10 years and I'm finally, finally able to see my writing as a real career and a business where I can succeed. I've published many books, and I've worked hard, but never as hard as I've worked this past year. And it's paying off, finally! I have a fun series called the Werewolves of Montana and I have my Harlequin Nocturne books. I am a hybrid author, publishing both indie books and books with a traditional NY publisher.

Oh, and I have a day job. A full-time demanding day job where I travel to poor countries. A week after I return from San Antonio, I will be in Guatemala, visiting poor families. None of them have Coach purses. To them, success is a roof over their head that doesn't leak, food on the table and a education for their children.

That's why the day job is important to me... I want to help make the world a better place and help others. And through visiting families in desperate need of help, and writing fundraising appeals to help the poor,  I'm succeeding in that goal as well.

I will be at the RWA  "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter Hotel in the 3rd floor ballroom. Stop by to see me!

To my readers...

This is a difficult post to write. Earlier this month, Dorchester Publishing announced they are transitioning from mass mark paperbacks to ebooks and trade. For reasons of my own, I haven't said anything on this blog regarding this issue, but today a reader expressed alarm when I told her my backlist with Leisure Books is going out of print. Already on Amazon, my first two Egyptian historicals are out of stock. That's it. When the paperbacks are gone, they are gone.

I thought it best to notify you that if you are interested in getting these books in paperback, it's best to do so now. I have seven Egyptian-set historicals published with Dorchester and the reading order is listed on my website.

As an author who has been deeply proud of her historicals published by Leisure Books, it saddens me greatly to see them go out of print. However, times in publishing are changing, and with change, comes sometimes painful and necessary adaptations. If you have any questions regarding my Egyptian-set historicals with Leisure Books, please feel free to contact me at the email address listed on my website. Thank you for all your support and understanding.
